JIGOLO'S STORY from Vicky Pfleghar in France
Jigolo at the beginning of May '07 jumping in France with Vicky having made a full recovery
Jigolo is a 10 year old ‘selle français’ who lives in the south-west of France, who contracted ‘piroplasmosis’ (tick fever) at the beginning of the year. He was duly treated by the attending vet with Imidocarb but unfortunately relapsed one month later after the initial treatment had worn off. This necessitated a further treatment with Imidocarb. This drug is the only method of destroying the blood parasite conveyed by ticks, the parasite causing the rapid destruction of red blood cells which can lead to swift organ failure and death if left untreated. Imidocarb is in itself a toxic substance which is painful for the animal and hepatic (liver) support is necessary to combat both the effects of the disease and the drug. After contacting Trinity Consultants they advised that Jigolo would need a powerful & fast acting liver tonic called L94, which they posted that day.
Jigolo was given the L94 for a course of 10 days in addition to his usual ration of Ashva Mitra and Seagarden Sweet Minerals both of which I feed him on a regular basis from Trinity Consultants.
He has now made a complete recovery and is looking and performing better than ever. After a month’s recuperation, he has been back in work for some time, and has returned to full fitness and has just started competing again. The L94 Liver tonic has clearly been of huge benefit in aiding his recovery: he quickly regained condition and strength and a month after the second relapse showed no signs that he had been so unwell or so close to a fatal illness.
