We are hearing of more Lymes disease being diagnosed in Horses in the UK. Unlike the US it is still relatively rare although there are pockets in the country where the incidences are higher than average. This may be due to a higher Deer population but it may also be due to greater local knowledge of the disease by horse Owners and Veterinarians following discussions with visitors from the US.
Treatment for the disease, which fortunately appears to be less severe than it can be in dogs, involves long term antibiotic treatment. Whilst this is prevailing, feeding and exercise should be in no way demanding.
No cure can be sought by nutrition but it can be designed to be supportive. We recommend feeding L-Glutamine during the worse undulation of the disease and we have recently started making Formula 4163 a 2 to 3 spoonful Lymes Formula developed from IM42 and Flourish Formula two really good Immunity formulations.
