Potassium amino acid complex

Potassium- Essential for body function an element that when ionised carries an electrical charge. Found at a ratio of 4:1 with magnesium inside the cell. Loss of K and Mg is followed by loss of cell fluid and constriction of pre-muscular arteries and capillaries resulting in heart, nerve and muscle disorders. An excess of the adrenal hormone aldosterone may cause fluid retention by displacing Potassium which is excreted through the urine and leads to hypokalaemia.

Loss of Mg due to stress leads to K loss. It is easy to get potassium into the urine, much harder to get it back into the cell, this takes time and is best approached by the K being in a complex form as found in nature or as a K complexed with an amino acid. Agents that increase the flow of urine from the kidneys and so excrete fluids from the body (Diuretics) should be balanced with adequate levels of dietary potassium. The advantage of some herbal diuretics is that they have the ability to make good the loss of K unlike synthetics for example Dandelion root contains an abundance of Potassium.
