TOPICAL SKIN FORMULAE for 2008
ROZEL MIXTURE - Particularly good for applying to fistulas, abscesses, pustules and the like. Coronet dystrophy and skin infections. Does not irritate or cause reactions but area may be itchy as it heals. Useful for massaging strained ligaments and tendons. Apply when Mud Fever is wet. Quickly absorbed into the skin. May be applied to warts & sarcoids.
A-Z WASH – For washing over or spraying to keep skin in good order free from fungal infections and to discourage flies. Good to spray manes, tails and feathers when combing through. An emulsion Dilute 25ml (one spoon) in 1 Lt of clean water. Good for Rain Scald and Sweet Itch.
A-Z WASH with SITAPHAL - Alternative to A-Z Wash for deterring flies. Good with local and Crab flies less so with Midges but still useful. An emulsion Dilute 25ml (one spoon) in 1 Lt of clean water.
NOOF – Oil for spot applying to fly bite bites, thrush and general sores, harness burns and abrasions. Anti-fungal. Excellent for making up into a paste with Copper Sulphate crystals and packing into infected hoof cavities. Apply when mud fever is dry. Careful to start with on sensitive horses. Can be applied successfully to warts
WOUNDWASH - Very useful. For cleaning all types of wounds, abrasions and injuries to the skin before treatment. Helps sooth and heal irritable sores infections and skin disorders as the only application or as a cleaning wash in preparation for more specific applications. Not likely to cause reaction
PNX SPRAY - For Sarcoids. Puff just enough to moisten the Sarcoid as many times per day as possible. Ask everyone who attends to the horse to have a handy PNX Spray in their packet so as to ‘puff’ the Sarcoid whenever they can. Nothing happens to start with, then the Sarcoid looks red and angry (don’t stop here, a battle is ensuing) then it gives up the ghost it will shrivel up not to reappear. Do not be impatient.
SANTALUM & ALOE VERA SHAMPOO (Concentrated) - Cooling & cleansing for shampooing whilst cleaning treated areas of the haircoat in readiness to start applications again.
NOOF HOOF OIL – For painting on dry flaky hoofs to protect them
NOOF 10% CREAM or LOTION – Noof in a gentle cream or lotion. Causes less reaction to sensitive horses
COMFREY LEAF CREAM – For lumps, bumps, sprains, strains, knocks and fractures. Quickly speeds healing of all bruises, lacerations and wounds. Ensure that if skin is broken there is no dirt or infection that will be ‘healed inside’. Gentle and soothing rarely causes reaction.
SANTALUM CREAM or LOTION – For spot application to hot itchy areas of skin... Discourages biting insects from settling. Good for dogs bellies.
NB * MIXED OILS – can be prepared on a bespoke basis for the individual horse as an alternative to pure Noof, should it be required.
