ARTHRITIS

Action – Stiffness, muscle ache, tendon and joint problems are more prevalent in damp colder conditions. If it is a concern and it is necessary to do something extra to help maintain freedom and fluidity of movement the following common formulae may well be useful

A.O.N.S. BELGIUM FORMULA – This is MSM and Glucosamine Hydrochloride. Feed one rounded measure per day to contribute 8g of Glucosamine and 16g of MSM per day.

COPE EXTRA -   Feed at 2 to 3 measures per day. Glucosamine and MSM is included in Cope Extra along with Ayurvedic extracts to help Rheumatic conditions and to clear and clean the accumulation of painful salts in the joints and act as an additional alternative anti-inflammatory.

STRIDE “B” -   Feed at 2 to 3 measures per day. Similar to Cope Extra in many respects, dampens the genius of inflammation as well as helping to void excess inflammation that leads to pain.

QBS – This is a Bute substitute fed at 30 to 60 ml per day. Designed to take over when Bute or other prescribed painkillers and anti inflammatory treatments are being withdrawn. Or as an occasional analgesic.

QBS2 - This is QBS with added ingredients to further help with joint pain.

Notes

The actual discomfort and immobility that beset horses vary from horse to horse and it is our experience that some formulae or combinations of formulae help some horses more than others. Therefore the following notes may be useful –

Knocks, Kicks or other injuries – QBS and if the bone is bruised also feed Comfrey Tincture and rub in Comfrey Cream.

A joint supplement for preventative reasons – A.O.N.S BELGIUM FORMULA.

When a Glucosamine supplement is indicated - A.O.N.S BELGIUM FORMULA.

Horses getting older and having more problems getting up and moving around after rest- COPE EXTRA. Cope Extra and QBS during really bad spells.

Performance Horses that are a bit jointy or have been diagnosed with the beginnings of Navicular or DJD. – STRIDE “B”

An alternative to feeding Bute on a long term basis – QBS or QBS with a low level of Bute.

Non-Specific Lameness and general lack of fluid movement – STRIDE “B”

Immobility due to spinal weakness or other bone weakness - A.O.N.S BELGIUM FORMULA and ARUN POWDER.

Short term muscle ache and tendon strain after hunting or due to twisting and stumbling – QBS

Precaution against a bad knock or kick later developing Osteoarthritis – COPE EXTRA for a month or so.
