WESTERN SALTS

To help maintain optimum peristalsis and contribute to electrolyte balance. Especially appropriate for horses that quickly dehydrate and have a tendency towards dung that is hard and over segmented. An ongoing feed for horses prone to colic, including sand colic and intestinal upsets. For feeding during hot weather to avoid dehydration, increasing the possibility of poor skin function.

May be fed on a continual basis or whilst there is a risk of a change in gut function such as when worming, when routine changes or when there is a change in roughage.

Comments - Western Salts are a safe, gently cathartic, source of hydrated Na & Mg which when fed as directed help promote intestinal exercise and void excess mucous build up. Particularly beneficial to horses being fed quantities of concentrates, horses prone to acidosis and/or when roughage is restricted or variable. As Western Salts are Hydrated (water is part of their molecular structure) they do not pull fluid back into the intestine as is the case with non hydrated salts. This allows the salts to be fed on a constant basis as an excellent safeguard against colic and electrolyte imbalance.
