BERBERINE MIXTURE

For feeding to horses that are sensitive to fly bites and have allergic skin reactions.

Introduce at anytime when flies and biting insects are likely to cause a problem or have left the horse with a chronic skin problem. For Horses and Ponies that are known to be susceptible to flies, try to start feeding at the lower level at least a month before the flies arrive.

Comments- Berberine, a constituent of Hydrastis (now unfortunately rare), Coptis chinensis and Indian Barberry, are anti-inflammatory anti-microbial, antiseptic. Berberine is bacteriostatic and acts as a detoxifier and liver tonic whilst at the same time providing anti-histamine and anti-itching benefits.  We have also found that Berberine is effective in the treatment of Leptospirosis.
