Glycyrrhiza glabra – The demulcent and anti-ulcerogenic properties of Liquorice plus all its uses from asthma to heartburn, conjunctivitis and arthritis has made this perennial legume with its little pea like blue flowers the ‘Universal’ herb. When used in a primary role it adds strength to muscle and bone. Increases physical strength and helps cure wounds such as peptic ulcers, little wonder that Alexander the Great insisted on providing his armies with daily amounts of Glycyrrhiza glabra to increase their strength and endurance. In a supportive role it enhances taste and the trouble free digestion of other herbs.
